Bill’s Postings Vol. 2

Bill Meredith may be cool, but the Dillengers are red-hot!

Bill’s latest column for the Palm Beach Post is on one of my favourite local bands, The Dillengers. This rockabilly/surf-rock/country/blues combo is something of an institution in South Florida, after seventeen years of existence. In particular, this trio has logged numerous nights at Elwood’s, a former gas station by the railroad tracks in Delray Beach converted (barely) into a blues bar and barbecue joint (motto: “Eat Here. Get Gas”).

The group’s most recent CD, 2004’s Instro-mania (album cover pictured above), was actually re-released nationally on Favoured Nations, a record label founded by legendary guitarist Steve Vai. Read Bill’s column here, but feel free to leave any comments for Bill with this post, since he’s blog-deprived on the Post site.

  1. “Eat Here. Get Gas”
More proof that you Florida fellows have the best party spots! I mean, who could ask for anything more lol! And that “gas” bit, is that “to go” or “to stay”? Let’s hope it’s “to go” *wink

Certainly, a great slogan, and a good cover for the fact that the owners had hardly did any renovations to the place i.e. it still pretty much looks like a gutted gas station

    One can only hope 🙂

  3. You mean, the wormhole to the past? You just outed me as a slacker blogger, Cookie 🙂 I’m in California on a business trip, so I’ll try to update my blog in my infinite spare time… But being on the West Coast makes me feel so much smarter about Russia, since I can almost see it from my hotel room 🙂
